Saul Ewing Oil and Gas Chair Joel R. Burcat honored for editing "The Law of Oil and Gas in Pennsylvania"
Saul Ewing LLP, a full service law firm with more than 270 lawyers in 11 East Coast offices, announced today that Joel R. Burcat, a partner and chair of the firm’s Oil and Gas Practice, has been recognized by the Association for Continuing Legal Education (ACLEA) for Outstanding Achievement in Publications for his work as the co-editor of The Law of Oil and Gas in Pennsylvania.
Co-edited with Stephen W. Saunders, of Scranton, Pa.-based Saunders Law, the reference book dissects both title and regulatory issues relating to oil and gas. This examination is made from the perspectives of the oil and gas industry, land and mineral rights owners and the interested public. Pennsylvania’s law of oil and gas continues to evolve and courts are grappling with the application of new technologies and concepts that collide with case law developed in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The book also contains detailed chapters on the history of oil and gas law in Pennsylvania and the geology and practice of oil and gas drilling.
The book was published by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute Press. Elizabeth U. Witmer, another partner in the firm’s Oil and Gas practice, wrote the chapter on pipeline regulation.
ACLEA is an international organization and this is an international award for publications in English.
