Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr Partner Toyja E. Kelley Installed As 2019 President of DRI
(Baltimore, Md. – October 22, 2018) Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP today announced that Toyja E. Kelley, Partner in the Firm's Litigation Practice, has been installed as the new President of the Defense Research Institute (DRI) – Voice of the Defense Bar. He will be the youngest in the organization's history to serve as President and will serve a one-year term.
For more than 50 years, DRI has been the international membership organization of all lawyers involved in the defense of civil litigation. It has more than 20,000 members and is host to 29 substantive committees whose focus is to develop ongoing and critical dialogue about areas of practice. Mr. Kelley has been a DRI member for more than a decade. As its President, he will oversee these 29 substantive committees and the resources they offer to members.
"One of the most significant DRI initiatives that I will continue to advance next year is DRI’s Center for Law and Public Policy," said Mr. Kelley. "Through scholarship, legal expertise and advocacy, the Center provides the most effective voice for the defense bar in the national discussion of substantive law, constitutional issues, and the integrity of the civil justice system."
At Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr, Mr. Kelley focuses his practice in general commercial litigation, construction litigation, professional and product liability, business torts, and insurance coverage. He has achieved positive results for businesses in the manufacturing, retail, real estate, and automotive industries, among others. He has extensive trial experience in the state and federal courts in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Mr. Kelley earned his J.D. from William & Mary Law School, and his B.A. from Franklin & Marshall.
