John Gekas Honored On Illinois’ Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 List
Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP congratulates commercial litigator John Gekas, named one of “40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 to Watch” for 2017 by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.
The list’s honorees were determined based upon an annual survey in which Illinois attorneys nominate legal “up and comers” across the state. This year, more than 1500 nominations were received. Winners were announced at a reception in Chicago on Thursday, October 5.
In nominations submitted by his peers, Gekas was described as a young attorney with “the rarest combination of skills: a fierce advocate without alienating the opposing side.” Clients pointed to his “integrity, hard work, and … commitment to resolving cases not just successfully, but economically.”
“John is a talented attorney and a valued colleague,” said Chicago office managing partner Michael L. Gesas. “He sets an example as someone who not only works hard for his clients, but demonstrates a real dedication to the legal profession and to serving the community.”
Since 2011, Gekas has been a member of the board of directors for HOW, an organization that provides housing and support for the most vulnerable members of society, serving as the Board President from 2015 to 2016. He is also one of the firm’s two liaisons to the Chicago Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights, and was a moving force behind the firm joining the organization.
