Arnstein & Lehr Adds IP and Corporate Strength in Chicago
The national law firm of Arnstein & Lehr LLP welcomes partner David P. Kaminski and partner Marcus S. Harris to its Chicago office. Mr. Kaminski joins the firm as a member of the Commercial & Real Estate Finance Transactions, Corporate Transactions & Counseling, Mergers & Acquisitions and Real Estate Practice Groups. Mr. Harris joins the firm as a member of the Intellectual Property Practice Group.
“Our business clients are focused on the key transactions that protect and grow their enterprises, so we’re pleased to be bringing on board two more talented attorneys in these important areas: intellectual property and corporate transactions,” said Michael L. Gesas, the firm’s managing partner in Chicago.
Mr. Kaminski comes to Arnstein & Lehr as a seasoned, business-savvy corporate transactional attorney with experience in a broad range of corporate transactional matters. He has significant experience counseling clients in finance transactions and forming and negotiating joint ventures, preferred equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, real estate development, private equity and venture capital. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kaminski served as general counsel for a specialty, private finance firm concentrating in structuring investments and providing financial solutions for targeted institutional clients, overseeing all legal aspects of transaction investment decisions, structuring, and deal implementation. He also spent a significant portion of his career in the finance and transactions group of a large international law firm.
“I’m excited to be joining the Arnstein team,” Kaminski said, “There’s an entrepreneurial spirit here, among both attorneys and clients. With national scope and the full range of services for business clients, the firm can deliver what owners and executives need to get deals done.”
Mr. Harris joins Arnstein & Lehr’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, concentrating in all aspects of technology law and intellectual property. He lends his expertise to conducting transactions involving technology licensing, including software licensing, ERP, SCM and CRM implementations, software development agreements and confidentiality matters. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Harris was Senior Corporate Counsel at SSA Global Technologies (now Infor), where he developed and managed an extensive international trademark and patent portfolio, managed intellectual property litigation, conducted intellectual property due diligence and reviewed advertising material to verify compliance with legal requirements.
“As my practice has grown, I’ve focused more and more on working with businesses on their large-scale, high-stakes software implementations, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions,” said Harris. “It’s vital to draft the contracts for these projects appropriately to protect your business. If a project goes poorly – as some 40% do – it’s sometimes necessary to litigate for a fair outcome. Joining a firm with so many seasoned commercial litigators makes it possible for me to secure the best possible outcome for my clients in any circumstance.”
