Saul Ewing LLP was singled out in this article about how general counsel at larger companies are giving more work to mid-size law firms to counter spiraling legal costs in this tough economy.

Pamela Woldow, of Altman Weil, said there has been a huge surge in interest in regional law firms with 100 to 300 lawyers, largely because of lower billing rates and strong capabilities. Saul Ewing has 260 attorneys.

"That's exactly the thought process we went through in going with Saul Ewing," said Robert Feit, general counsel at Ametek, a Paoli, PA-based electronics manufacturer. "...we decided, 'Let's try someone in our backyard that has all the capabilities we need.'"

As a result, said Managing Partner David S. Antzis, the Firm has served as Ametek's lead counsel on at least two big deals in recent months.
