Katz comments on ways Amazon’s purchase of Whole Foods impacts retail
Barry Katz, a partner in the Firm’s Real Estate Practice, is quoted in this article in Law 360 on the ways that Amazon’s purchase of Whole Foods is impacting traditional brick- and - mortar retail. One element that the article explains is the likelihood of Amazon using existing Whole Foods stores as distribution centers. Barry said, "That acquisition gives Amazon already-built locations for products and distribution hubs. Amazon and other big e-commerce companies are looking to develop industrial space in urban areas. Obviously, Whole Foods gives them a lot of locations. Given Amazon's size, they are still going to be looking for other locations."
