Partners present at RMA’s 2013-2014 Operational Risk Audio Conference Series
Gregory S. Bernabeo and Stephen J. Driscoll, partners in the Business and Finance and Intellectual Property & Technology practices, gave this audio presentation on February 5, 2014 that provided an overview of non-practicing entities (“NPEs”), which pose an operational risk for financial institutions due to the shift in mobile banking.
The topic, which involves facets of electronics, software and telecommunications technology, confronts banks of all sizes. The presentation covered:
- The rise in patent litigation by NPEs
- Typical claims brought by NPEs against financial institutions
- Action to take if your institution is targeted by an NPE
The RMA series, which will occur monthly through June 4, 2014, will cover timely operational risk topics including fraud, vendor management, data breaches/cyber security, social media, pandemic preparation/business continuity planning, board reporting, RCSAs, scenario analysis, and KRIs.
Gregory's practice focuses on patent procurement, clearance, and enforcement, particularly in relation to software, business methods, and e-commerce. Stephen concentrates his practice in IP litigation and counseling.
