Yogini Bhavsar-Jog

Technical Specialist

Yogini Bhavsar-Jog assists clients in protecting their intellectual property using her extensive scientific knowledge and her experience in patent prosecution. Yogini has a Ph.D. in biochemistry and has significant technical experience in organic chemistry.

Yogini's experience with patent prosecution includes evaluating patent disclosures, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, drafting appeal briefs, and preparing arguments in response to U.S. Patent and Trademark Office actions. As a technology transfer fellow at a major university, she assessed the technical, commercial and IP aspects of scientific research conducted by university faculty working to translate their findings into technology for the commercial market.

Before working in the legal and technology transfer fields, Yogini was a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where she studied the effects of architectural remodeling of septin macromolecular assemblies on the cellular process, as well as identified genes participating in regulating cytokinesis and cell division. Her doctoral studies focused on characterizing non-cannonical, higher order DNA structures for effective binding of anti-cancer drugs as well as DNA aptamers for their potential use in nano-technological applications involving drug delivery. She conducted studies on epigenetically modified DNA i-motifs and optimized the use of various fluorescent probes to monitor the transition of duplex DNA to higher order structures as well.
