Robert C. Gill

Robert Gill focuses his litigation practice on three general areas: real estate litigation matters, complex commercial or business litigation, and intellectual property litigation.

Robert has significant experience representing clients in the real estate industry in matters involving undeveloped land, commercial office buildings, marine terminals, industrial properties, and golf courses. He has litigated cases involving real estate contract disputes, commission claims, easement disputes, title claims, lease disputes, marine terminal pricing, lien claims, Telecommunications Act claims, and enforcement of commercial loan agreements under state law and FIRREA. His clients include owners, developers, lenders, port authorities, brokers, title insurance companies, landlords, ocean carriers and tenants.

As a commercial litigator, Robert has counseled clients in several industries and in a wide variety of business disputes. His experience includes litigation of corporate opportunity claims, corporate and partnership governance disputes, breach of contract claims involving the sale of realty, corporate stock, and other assets, commission claims, marine terminal contracts, regulatory matters, loan agreements, and creditors' rights issues.

Robert also has handled significant intellectual property claims. He has litigated trademark infringement and dilution cases, trade-dress cases, copyright claims, actions under the Uniform Trade Secrets Act, and unfair competition claims.

He has tried a number of cases to judgment in bench and jury trials in state and federal courts. He has particular experience in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia - the so-called "Rocket Docket" - and in various circuit courts throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
