Nicole J. O'Hara
Nicole O'Hara counsels companies on business issues involving the internet, privacy and advertising compliance, as well as on intellectual property matters. She has facilitated global transactions among multiples parties in businesses large and small. Deals she has worked on range from IT-related contracts to service and subscription agreements, including software- and platform-as-a-service to domain name registration, monitoring and hosting. This experience, along with her interest in tracking emerging technologies and trends, supports her work advising clients on legal matters involving big data, cybersecurity best practices, breaches, notification requirements and disaster response and recovery. Nicole's transactional experience includes preparing term sheets and memoranda of understanding, licenses, joint venture and revenue share agreements.
In addition, Nicole counsels individuals and businesses on intellectual property strategy and portfolio management, and she prosecutes patent, service and trademark applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Her IP experience includes past work as a legal consultant to the Office of Patents & Licensing for the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, where she resolved trademark, copyright and patent-related issues. Her work there included overseeing patent prosecution in consultation with inventors and outside firms, drafting intellectual property-related contracts, and writing and filing provisional and utility patent applications.
