Lara J. Mangum
Lara Mangum is a member of the Litigation Department in the firm's Washington, DC office. She maintains a general litigation practice with a focus on representing clients in commercial and insurance disputes.
As a law student at the University of Virginia, Lara was a full-time legal extern for the Administrative Conference of the United States, gaining experience in administrative law and regulatory affairs. While at ACUS, she analyzed the impacts of the organization's recommendations on federal agency operation and collaborated with colleagues on improvements to agency adjudication, rulemaking and judicial review processes. Her work there often took her to Capitol Hill, where she reported on bills proposed at U.S. Senate committee hearings and evaluated how proposed legislation might impact current and future ACUS recommendations.
As a summer associate at Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr, Lara gained litigation experience working on matters involving employment contracts, government contracts, construction and estate litigation. She also broadened her practice by developing an understanding of maritime and patent law.
Also during law school, Lara interned as an Equal Justice America Fellow for Legal Services of Northern Virginia, where she assisted low-income clients in resolving family law, landlord-tenant, and tax and bankruptcy issues. Her experience at LSNV afforded her insight into litigating in the Virginia trial courts.
Lara is proficient in French, having lived in Normandy, France while studying there at the Université de Caen.
