John Demmy represents debtors, creditors' and ad hoc committees, asset buyers, insurers, and all types of creditors in bankruptcy cases and related litigation matters, and he draws on his involvement in many of the major bankruptcy case in the District of Delaware over the past 30 years to guide them. He also handles bankruptcy appeals to the Delaware District Court and to the Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He has appeared in major bankruptcies in the Southern District of New York and other bankruptcy jurisdictions, including Texas, Louisiana, California, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, Virginia and North Carolina, as well.

John is also an experience commercial litigator who assist clients with cases in the Delaware Court of  Chancery, a premiere venue for business disputes.  He also provides opinions with respect to matters of bankruptcy and Delaware law relating to Delaware entities.

Utilities and energy providers, commercial landlords, equipment lessors, institutional and other lenders, trade creditors, executives and other unsecured and contract creditors are among the clients who rely on John to help them navigate complex bankruptcy cases and litigation.

An insurer group in the negotiation and obtaining of court approval of a $163 million settlement of a bankruptcy case involving nearly 100 personal injury claims caused by allegedly defective, exploding gas cans
A manufacturer and supplier of surgical implant devices with $20 million+ in annual sales in Chapter 11 reorganization case resulting in confirmed plan
Retail footwear companies in successful Chapter 11 reorganization involving restructuring of nearly $30 million pursuant to a debt acquisition of debtor entities by plan funder
Commercial litigation, alternative entities and corporate deals

John's immersion in the Delaware legal community positions him to handle commercial litigation, formation of alternative entities and a variety of other business-related matters across the breadth of the state's legal system, including cases in the state's District Court, Superior Court, and Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
