Doreen Y. Trujillo
Doreen Y. Trujillo is a seasoned patent lawyer who represents her clients in numerous facets of patent law, including prosecution and counseling, opinion preparation, licensing, due diligence, and litigation. She has prosecuted patent applications in the United States and abroad, and has experience handling patent interferences, reissues, and ex parte reexaminations. Doreen also has experience briefing and arguing ex parte appeals before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences of the United States Patent & Trademark Office and briefing and arguing appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Doreen's law practice is informed by her strong background in life sciences and biotechnology, with a focus on immunology. She has a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry, and worked for several years as a research assistant at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Her work there focused on tissue culture, including hybridoma production, animal testing, and the development of immunoassays.
Doreen is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Northern District of Texas, as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Prior to joining Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr, Doreen was a shareholder practicing patent law at a national law firm with an office in Philadelphia. She was there for 10 years during which time she focused her practice on prosecution and counseling, including serving as lead counsel on interferences and on appeals before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Before that, she was at two intellectual property boutique firms, including one in Philadelphia where she was an equity partner when she left after nine years. During her time at these firms, her work included prosecution, counseling and litigation through summary judgment and appeal.
